At what age did you begin dancing?

I started my dancing career at the age of 5.

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre of dance is lyrical. In lyrical I am able to let all my emotions out and create a beautiful piece of art through my dancing. It is truly meaningful to me to be able to tell a story by my own movement and in lyrical it is all about storytelling and that is the part I love the most about it.

What have you learned from JDC?

Over the many years of me attending JDC, I have learned many different valuable traits that I will keep with me for the rest of my life. First of all, I have learned hard work and discipline. Being a dancer is a lot of commitment and you have to work hard for the accomplishments you want to see and my teachers Miss. Candy and Miss. Kasie have shown me that throughout all of these years. I also have learned how to be a team player. When it comes to dance being a great team member is not something you can just say willingly. You have to show that you are by always encouraging your teammates and making everyone feel involved and always supporting your friends.

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

There are many things I am going to miss most about JDC. It’s hard to put it all into words but for me I think not seeing my teachers who have worked with me every week for 11 years will be the hardest part. My dance teachers have impacted my life in many different ways and I love them for it. I will also miss the fun times during classes laughing with my friends and also being drilled, which is hard to believe.

What are your plans after high school?

After high school, my plan is to attend a 4-year college either The University of Alabama or NC State University and major in Biology.

What are your hopes for the future?

For my future, I hope that I do the things I love by keeping dance a part of my life always because it is very important to me. I hope to be living down south and join a dance team in college and get my PhD in medicine.
