Meet our Class of 2024!

Every dancer is special at JDC, but for the 6 dancers below they have reached a milestone in their life.  They are seniors graduating high school this year and preparing for the next chapter in their life.  Before they leave us, we want to take a moment to recognize each one of them.  

Congratulations to our Seniors... Emily Bagan, Lily Barnes, William Ives, Mimi Loftus-Graney, Madden Robbins and Madison Thornhill!!

Emily Bagan

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing when I was 3 years old.

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre of dance is definitely tap. I have always loved how the taps and the steps match with the music perfectly. I also love the way I can change the rhythms and hear the sound of it under my feet!

What have you learned from JDC?

From JDC, I’ve learned how to balance my time between dance and other aspects of my life. I’ve learned what it means to be a good teammate and the importance of working together to reach a common goal.

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I’m going to miss the connections I made with everybody here at the studio. The teachers and students always made me feel at home. Dance has always been a constant in my life and I will miss it very much!

What are your plans after high school?

After high school, I plan to attend college to pursue a career in biomedical engineering.
 

What are your hopes for the future?

In the future, I hope to finish school and take up any opportunities that come my way. I want to try new things, travel, and meet new people!

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at the age of 2 ½

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is contemporary because it is slower paced and fun to connect to the music.

What have you learned from JDC?

At JDC I have learned that I love to dance and the importance of team work and dedication.

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I will miss my teachers that I have worked with, but most of all I will miss my late night solo and chats with Miss Maddy.

What are your plans after high school?

I will be attending SUNY Cobleskill in the fall for early childhood education.

What are your hopes for the future?

I will be attending SUNY Cobleskill in the fall for early childhood education.

Williams Ives

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing when I was 11 years old. 

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is hip hop, because it can be very expressive and high energy!

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned how to be a good friend and how to dance to my fullest potential. 
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I will miss everything!

What are your plans after high school?

I plan on working in a metaphysical store and write books.

 

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope in 10 years to live in a small apartment in the city where I can just be myself.

Mimi Loftus-Graney

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing when I was 10 years old. 

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is hip hop because it gets my energy high and forces me outside of my comfort zone.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

JDC taught me the importance of dedication and teamwork. I have learned how to be a team player in every aspect. During my time at JDC, I have also learned my personal strengths and aspirations that I will apply to my life ahead of me. 
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I will miss the friends I have made along the way, they will forever be my family. I will also miss all of the laughs and smiles that JDC brought me. For the past seven years of my life, dance has been an escape for me. 

What are your plans after high school?

After high school, I plan to attend Skidmore College, earn a degree, and travel abroad. 
 

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are to become successful in the path I choose in life, travel the world, and live my life to the fullest.

Madden Robbins

At what age did you begin dancing?

I starting dancing when I was 6 years old.

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is lyrical because not only am I able to put so much emotion into the style, but I am also able to form a bond and connect with my teammates both in class and on stage.

What have you learned from JDC?

At JDC, I have learned the importance of sticking to a commitment and I learned how to work and cooperate with others.

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

What I’m going to miss most about JDC is seeing the people I have seen weekly for the past several years. My teammates and teachers at the studio quickly became a second family and leaving will definitely be difficult and take time to adjust to.
 

What are your plans after high school?

My plans after high school are to attend college for at least 4 years while majoring in Kinesiology to hopefully become a Physical Therapist.

What are your hopes for the future?

Madison Thornhill

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing at the age of four.

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is tap because I enjoy the different sounds I can make with my feet.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned the importance of teamwork, dedication, and how to push myself to do the best I can.

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I’m going to miss my friends and my teachers the most. It will be hard not coming into class and seeing them every week next year.

 

What are your plans after high school?

My plans after high school are to study psychology.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are to graduate from college and have a successful career that I enjoy.

Our 2021 Dance Recital was held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds!  It was an amazing day filled with love, laughter, tears of joy and most of all huge smiles from each and every dancers as they performed their incredible routines for their friends and families.  Thank you to all our dance families for another amazing year!!

2018 Ballston Spa Holiday Parade

JDC was established in 2013.  Our studio is located in Ballston Spa, NY.  Our mission is to provide children a positive and encouraging environment that will develop their talent, self-esteem, creativity, communication and collaboration skills.  Our motto is “For the Love of Dance” and our goal is to instill the “Love of Dance” in all our students.
