Meet our Class of 2023!

Every dancer is special at JDC, but for the 12 ladies below they have reached a milestone in their life.  They are seniors graduating high school this year and preparing for the next chapter in their life.  Before they leave us, we want to take a moment to recognize each one of them.  

Congratulations to our Seniors... Abigail Austin, Annika Kilinski, Arden Mae Buhrmaster, Cadence Harblin, Cameron McKay, Elizabeth Snyder, Emma Furze, Hailey Hamblin, Isabella Bennice, Kylie Reisinger, Macie Bricker and Sydney Greczkowski!!

Abigail Austin

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing at age 5.

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre would be jazz or musical theatre because I feel most confident when dancing with the kinds of songs associated with the genre.

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned that dance is an escape for me and that it I am capable of doing more than I let myself. I have learned that JDC is a community that I’m glad to be a part of and it always makes me smile.
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I am going to miss the atmosphere most. I feel ready to push myself while taking my time and enjoying myself when I’m in the studio. 
 

What are your plans after high school?

I plan on going to Oneonta and studying to get my Master’s Degree in early childhood education. I’d like to study abroad and continue to learn & keep an open mind on life.

 

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope that I continue to dance even if it’s not in a specific community or with a studio. I hope to learn more about dance. I hope to only better myself in the future.

Annika Kilinski

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at JDC at the age of 2.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite style of dance is hip hop because it is the most fun and upbeat.

What have you learned from JDC?

I’ve learned many things from JDC but one of the most important is teamwork and how to work well with others.  JDC has also taught me how to balance laughing and having fun with hard work.

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I am most going to miss seeing my amazing teachers every week and all of my friends.

 

What are your plans after high school?

After high school I plan to attend college and see where life takes me.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope that I can continue to keep dance as a major part of my life and stay good, close friends with my teachers and fellow dancers.

Arden Mae Buhrmaster

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing at the age of 2.
 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is lyrical.  I love how through lyrical dancing I can emote and connect to different songs.

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned to be able to work with others and be a good teammate.  I have also learned to never give up and always strive to be the best version of myself.

 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I am going to miss my friends I have made over the years as well as the teachers I have made connections with.

What are your plans after high school?

My plans are to attend college majoring in speech pathology.

 

What are your hopes for the future?

In the future, I hope to become a successful speech pathologist and take all the amazing lessons and experience I have learned at JDC with me.

Cadence Harblin

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at the age of 3 years old.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is tap because it is fun and I feel the most confident when performing this genre on stage.
 

 

What have you learned from JDC?

From JDC, I have learned the importance of commitment and dedication from learning my dances every week to preparing for competitions.  I feel like this has prepared me for my future.
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I am going to miss my dance family the most. It will definitely be a hard adjustment from seeing my friends and teachers every week to seeing them when I come home from college.

What are your plans after high school?

My plans after high school are to attend a four year University and study radiologic technologies and/or medical imaging.
 

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are to graduate college, have a successful career and enjoy whatever life brings me.

Cameron McKay

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing at the age of 5.

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

Irish dance and contemporary. Contemporary seems more similar to ballet, which is what I grew up doing, so the movements make more sense to me. And Irish dancing is very unique. It can be loud and lively or soft and beautiful and I think it’s really fun.
 

What have you learned from JDC?

That believing in your capability to do things and the way you treat yourself make a huge difference. 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

The people.

What are your plans after high school?

To go to college for Environmental Science.
 

What are your hopes for the future?

 I hope that I can find ways to keep doing the things I love to do, even if it looks a little different as I get older.

Elizabeth Snyder

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing at the age of four. 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre has always been tap. I love being able to create sound with my feet and tapping along with the music is so enjoyable! 

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I’ve learned so much from JDC. I learned the importance of teamwork, time management, dedication and so many other aspects that I’ll always remember and carry with me through my life. 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

JDC is my second family! The JDC family has always shown me nothing but love and support and I’ll always cherish the memories I have here at JDC. I’m going to miss everyone very much

 

What are your plans after high school?

After high school, I plan to attend a 4 year school and study nursing. 

What are your hopes for the future?

I want to graduate from a 4 year school and find a job in the nursing field. I also hope to make fun memories in college!

Emma Furze

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at 4 years old.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is tap because it is fast and I enjoy challenging myself to learn new steps. 

 

What have you learned from JDC?

JDC has taught me the true meaning of family and what it is like to feel unconditionally loved.
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I am going to miss seeing all of my JDC family and the welcoming environment of the studio. It truly felt like a home away from home to me. 

What are your plans after high school?

I am attending SUNY Oneonta to earn a degree in childhood education. 
 

What are your hopes for the future?

I am attending SUNY Oneonta to earn a degree in childhood education.

Hailey Hamblin

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at the age of 3.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

I really love tap! It’s always been a passion of mine. It brings me to my happy place and I love the challenge that tap can bring.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I’ve learned how to work as a team and make friends. I also learned that family isn’t just blood, it can also be the ones who have your back and help you out like my JDC family.
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I’m going to miss my JDC family because they are very important to me. I’m also going to miss our competitions and the adrenaline rush of preparing for the competitions but I’m mostly going to miss cheering for the JDC family on stage.
 

What are your plans after high school?

I am looking forward to going to SUNY Adirondack for my 2 year associates degree then moving to a university to continue my education to become a physical therapist.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to be successful to become a physical therapist and reach all my goals in life that I set for myself.

Isabella Bennice

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started my dancing career at the age of 4.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is tap. I love matching my sounds to the rhythm of the song and having different styles.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned your team always has your back when you need it.
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I will miss telling Kasie all our stories from our days during tap class.

What are your plans after high school?

I plan to go to college after high school and pursue a career in forensic accounting.
 

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to be able to travel and continue to have a happy life after high school.

Kylie Reisinger

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing at the age of 11.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

I love jazz because it’s the most fun to perform on stage and my jazz duos with my best friend are always my favorite dances.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned how to push myself to try new things and go beyond my limits.
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I’m going to miss laughing with Ms. Candy every week!

What are your plans after high school?

I plan to major in the arts and join a football dance team.
 

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to start my career as an interior designer.

Macie Bricker

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing at JDC when I was 3 years old.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is contemporary/lyrical because I love how expressive it is and how I can let my body flow through the movements.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

From my time spent at JDC I have learned so many valuable life lessons. Being disciplined, determined and a team player will help you strive. JDC has taught me to step out of my comfort zone and make bonds with amazing people. 
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

Something I’m going to miss about JDC is not having a voice to continue to push you even when you feel like giving up. No matter how hard it gets my teachers have always continued to push me to be the best person in and out of the studio. 

What are your plans after high school?

My plans after high school are go to school for at least 4 years and use everything I’ve learned from JDC throughout the rest of my life. I plan to study Exercise Science and to continue to help people in and out of school. 
 

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are to continue to meet wonderful people, travel, finish school and enjoy every second of the day. 

Sydney Greczkowski

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at the age of 3. I was a gymnast from the age of 5 -13. I returned to dance at JDC at the age of 13.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre of dance is Hip Hop. This style of dance makes me happy and I feel powerful when I am doing Hip Hop. I could do this genre for the rest of my life.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned many things at JDC. The main thing is to always push myself to work hard and improve my dancing. 
 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I am going to miss all of my teachers and the friends I have made. JDC truly is a family to me. 

What are your plans after high school?

After high school I want to go to college for business.
 

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are to run my family's business and to never stop dancing.

Our 2021 Dance Recital was held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds!  It was an amazing day filled with love, laughter, tears of joy and most of all huge smiles from each and every dancers as they performed their incredible routines for their friends and families.  Thank you to all our dance families for another amazing year!!

JDC was established in 2013.  Our studio is located in Ballston Spa, NY.  Our mission is to provide children a positive and encouraging environment that will develop their talent, self-esteem, creativity, communication and collaboration skills.  Our motto is “For the Love of Dance” and our goal is to instill the “Love of Dance” in all our students.
