Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty of the COVID community spread, we have made the decision not to add any additional classes at this time.  Your next opportunity to join JDC Dance Center will be our summer session.  Summer Class information, including session dates, available classes and pricing will be available on our website on April 15. 2021.

Meet our Class of 2021!

Every dancer is special at JDC, but for the 8 ladies below they have reached a milestone in their life.  They are seniors graduating high school this year and preparing for the next chapter in their life.  Before they leave us, we want to take a moment to recognize each one of them.  

Congratulations to our Seniors... Amelia Edmunds, Zoe Frieghtenburgh, Anna Hershey, Mikayla LaBounty, Chloe Murphy, Faith Pelli, Rebecca Shoemaker and Lindsay Wight!

Amelia Edmunds

Zoe Frieghtenburgh

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at age 4 with ballet and jazz.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is tap because it’s very technical and I’ve been doing it the longest.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

Some things I learned from JDC are how to have rhythm and stick with something I enjoy for such a long time no matter how hard it may get.

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I will miss Ms. Candy and other girls I have danced with for the last couple of years.  It has been so much fun to hang out for a half hour each week with the friends I have made and tap dance.

 

What are your plans after high school?

My plans after high school are to go to SUNY Oswego in the fall and study Zoology.

 

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are that everything with return to normal and we will have a normal school year in the fall so we can truly experience our teenage years.

Anna Hershey

At what age did you begin dancing?

I began dancing at the age of 5.
 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

From the start tap had always been my favorite genre, but I love all styles.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

JDC has taught me a lot more than just how to dance.  I have learned how to persevere, stay positive as well as how to mix hard-work with fun.

 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I am most going to miss the JDC family I have been a part of for so long, along with all the memories I have made at competitions and in the studio.
 

What are your plans after high school?

After high school, I’m planning to attend Hudson Valley continuing my pursuit in cyber security.

 

What are your hopes for the future?

From there my plans are to attend a four year school in hopes to find my path for the future.

Mikayla LaBounty

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at the age of 13.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

Jazz and contemporary, because I can express my personality through music.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I’ve learned to respect others.

 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

My dance family and the teachers.

What are your plans after high school?

I’m going to work, and possibly going to college in the future.

 

What are your hopes for the future?

My hope is to travel around the world, exploring different cultures.

Chloe Murphy

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at the age of 13.
 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is hip-hop because I feel most confident when I preform a hip-hop dance and I feel the style is just so me!

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I’ve learned how to be more confident and how to push myself to achieve my goals.

 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I’m going to miss the fun and supportive friends and teachers.

 

What are your plans after high school?

After high school I plan to attend the college of saint rose and hopefully join one of their dance clubs so I can keep dancing as well as study early childhood education.
 

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future is to become and elementary school teacher. I’ve always been good with children and it has always been a dream of mine to be a teacher.

Faith Pelli

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing at the age of 2.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre of dance is contemporary because you can fully express your emotions through it.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned so much from JDC. From working as a team, to important technique, my time at JDC has been crucial in my dance career.

 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I am going to miss competing with my friends and the crazy memories we have made together over these past three years.

 

What are your plans after high school?

After high school, I will be attending DeSales University. I am planning a double major in dance and physical therapy/ and or psychology.

What are your hopes for the future?

 I don’t know what the future holds but I know that no matter what, I will keep dancing.

Rebecca Shoemaker

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing when I was 10.

 

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

My favorite genre is hip hop because it’s the most fun to play around with.

 

What have you learned from JDC?

JDC taught me how to work hard to achieve your goals.

 

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

I’m going to miss the family I met here. I’ll definitely be coming back to see them graduate.

 

What are your plans after high school?

I’m attending SUNY Oswego studying Graphic Design.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope to continue dancing in college and choreograph a few dances of my own.

Lindsay Wight

At what age did you begin dancing?

I started dancing when I was 5 years old.

What genre of dance is your favorite and why?

Tap is my favorite genre because it amazes me how our feet can make those sounds. 

What have you learned from JDC?

I have learned the importance of being a team and working together to achieve great things while being at JDC.

What are you going to miss most about JDC?

 I am going to miss the time I was able to spend bonding with my friends when I leave JDC.

What are your plans after high school?

My plans after high school are to go to college and study to become an OB/GYN.

What are your hopes for the future?

My hopes for the future are that I am a successful student in college and that I make many memories in college that I will remember for the rest of my life.

2018 Ballston Spa Holiday Parade

JDC was established in 2013.  Our studio is located in Ballston Spa, NY.  Our mission is to provide children a positive and encouraging environment that will develop their talent, self-esteem, creativity, communication and collaboration skills.  Our motto is “For the Love of Dance” and our goal is to instill the “Love of Dance” in all our students.
